Recent Momentum
Naomi Katz's latest body of work has been acquired by collectors across the UK, USA, Canada, Europe, Switzerland, Saudi Arabia and Australia.
Recent collectors include acclaimed filmmaker Lucy Forbes, with organic recognition from internationally renowned artist Cat Power.
Naomi Katz is an Australian, Melbourne-based artist working with light, mirror, resin and colour. After studying Fine Art at Wimbledon College of Art in London with Honours and exhibiting her work, Naomi stepped away from making for a number of years before returning to the studio with a new body of work exploring light, colour, reflection and the way an artwork changes as we move around it.
Her current collection, Antiques of 2095, imagines objects from a future in which the invisible might have become visible. Luminous forms appear throughout the work like speculative portraits, each carrying its own colour and light signature — imagining how we might look beyond the physical body if we could one day see what lies beneath it.
The collection brings contemporary materials and luminous forms together with traditional hand-applied gold leaf, creating objects that feel simultaneously old and yet to exist. Each work is made individually by hand in her Melbourne studio.
Before focusing on visual art, Naomi worked as a recording artist under the name Naomi Braun, collaborating with producer Lotek and receiving support from PBS radio, following an earlier career with ARIA-nominated electronic act Deepface. Her background in music and performance continues to inform her work.
